Republican Research & Practical Center for Epidemiology & Microbiology, Minsk The aim of the investigation was to study the stages and features in cyst formation of strain Borrelia burdorferi sensu stricto in a cell-free media and astrocytes culture. The model system of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto cyst formation of a cell-free media and culture of astrocytes in vitro was obtained. The ultrastructural and atomic force microscopy analysis of cyst forms was carried out. Stages of reorganization of structures of an external cover were studied. This model will allow to study further superficial and antigenic transformations causing process of a change of immunogenic and pathogenic properties and mimicry of Borrelia burgdorferi and also to study mechanisms of chronic infection formation.

2Brest Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology & Public Health, Brest, Belarus The results obtained on the serum antibodies detection in patients with various undifferentiated fevers virus-borne encephalitis (TBE) and West Nile (WN) by enzyme immunoassay have been presented. The highest percentage of class M antibodies (11.1%) and G (22,2%) to TBE virus was detected in sera of patients in Grodno region, and to the virus WN (19.4%) In the Gomel region.

The results suggest that among patients with undifferentiated diagnoses for the period of season activity arthropods could occur arboviral etiology diseases.

Republican Research & Practical Center for Epidemiology & Microbiology, Minsk, Belarus The humoral Ig and IgG immune responses to Leptospira interrogans (7 serogroups) in laboratory animals have been studied. The expression of immunoreactive leptospiral antigens on 7, 14 and 21 days of infection has been determined. Western blot showed that in the acute phase of infection the IgM-response was determined mainly by leptospiral proteins with a molecular mass of 14 kDa, 25 kDa, 32 kDa and 41/42 kDa. In the convalescent phase IgG-response characterized by immunodominant protein p32 and p41/42 and immunoreactivity to macromolecular proteins p58, p62 and p82. These data allow to optimize the diagnosis of leptospirosis in the acute and convalescent phases.
