24 About the author Andrey A. Kazantsev PhD. in Political Science, a Senior research fellow (Center for EuroAtlantic Security of Moscow State Institute of International Relations of Russian Foreign Ministry (MGIMO).

Spheres of scientific and expert interest: RussianEuropean and RussianAmerican relations;

energy policy;

political, security and economical processes on the PostSoviet space (especially, in Russia and Caspian Sea region);

practical political applications of social networking theory.

A. Kazantsev was born in 1974 in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) and graduated a secondary school there. Until 1996 A. Kazantsev had Turkmenistans citizenship, since 1996 he is a citizen of Russian Federation.

Education.

1991 1997, student, Russian State University for the Humanities, Institute for History and Archives, specialization in history and languages.

1997 2000, Russian State University for the Humanities, Political Science Department, postgraduate student.

In 2000 A. Kazantsev defended PhD in Political Science in Russian State University for the Humanities.

Experience of work.

1998 2001 Assistant lecturer, than, lecturer (20002001), Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), Political Science Department.

1998 2000 expert and research fellow, International Institute for the Humanities and Political Studies, IGPI (of Viacheslav Igrunov).

2001 2004 research fellow, Center for International Studies, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

2004 present, research fellow, than, senior research fellow, Center for Euro-Atlantic Security (CEAB of NKSMI), Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

As an expert A. Kazantsev worked for the following international organizations and projects (some UN, IAEA and NATO projects, G8 summit in SaintPetersburg, CSTO, CIS Inter Parliamentary Assembly), for Russian governmental and political bodies (Presidential Executive Office Administration of the President of Russia, Security Council of Russia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Ministry of Defense of Russia, Russian Unified Democratic Party Yabloko) and for the Government of Kazakhstan.

A. Kazantsev received grants and participated in common projects with some European and American institutions and foundations (EU Institute for Security Studies, Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and MacArthur Foundation).
